Part 3; The Date

Ethan was late. He chastised himself for not leaving earlier. He should have been here five minutes ago. He wanted to go to the market and buy Bebe some flowers and surprise her at the bookstore. But now he was just going to barely make it to the restaurant before her if he was lucky.

She had just walked across the patio smiling at him. He'd never get over her beauty, no matter how many times she changed her hair or dressed in the most colorful outfit she always glowed to him.
"Hi," They said almost in unison.
"I'm sorry I'm late," he continued. "I hoped to meet you at the store. You look beautiful tonight. How was work?"
"It was fine. But then mom showed up freaking out about daddy acting up and you know if mommy is worried on daddy's behavior it must be really bad. I just want to ignore it for tonight and spend a couple hours with you."
"Whatever you want Bebe. I'm always willing to listen rather it's about your mom or your dad. Anything. By the way Mike told me he has some great seats for us tomorrow night and wanted to know if you'd join us. He's inviting Holly as well."
"Sure, anything to get away from the parents. Who's playing tomorrow anyways?"

"The Frames."
"Not bad. I'm starved I haven't eaten since breakfast mind if we eat?"

"No problem. It's such a nice night out here though. Want to eat out here?"
"Sounds cool. I'll grab us a table while you order the food. I'll have what you're having."
"Okay, I'll be back in a bit." He said before heading inside. He stayed by the bar while they cooked his food watching the game on TV. The place was packed enough he couldn't see the door from his seat but the cooks were the best in town and could handle a crowed this big with ease. Ten minutes later he had their food and was heading back outside.

Bebe was gone. She was nowhere to be seen. Maybe she went to the restroom. He sat down at an empty table and waited on her, but when she didn't return five minutes later he decided to eat his cheese steak before it got cold.

He finished it and she was still gone. Hurt he dug into hers, no use wasting a months of his allowance. He sat there for a while longer, but knew he needed to get home. How could Bebe just up and leave him there with no warning, no explanation. What had happened? Was she okay? Did she run off on him? Was this her way of breaking up with him?
He let out a long sigh knowing whatever just happened wasn't going to get answered until he saw Bebe again. It was a good thing he didn't ask her to formal though. She'd probably had just laugh at him before running off. But this was so unlike her. Confused and hurt Ethan drove home.
